Interview with Becca Jameson

Biography

Becca Jameson is a USA Today bestselling author of over 100 books. She is most well-known for her Wolf Masters Series, her Fight Club series, and her Club Zodiac series. She currently lives in Houston, Texas, with her husband and Goldendoodle. Two grown kids pop in every once in a while too! She is loving this journey and has dabbled in a variety of genres, including paranormal, sports romance, military, and BDSM.

A total night owl, Becca writes late at night, sequestering herself in her office with a glass of red wine and a bar of dark chocolate, her fingers flying across the keyboard as her characters weave their own stories.

During the day--which never starts before ten in the morning!--she can be found jogging, running errands, or reading in her favorite hammock chair!

Questions

What advice can you give to a writer who want to write as much as you?

You have to love it! I write so many books because it’s my favorite thing in the world to do. My first choice given any options. If I could just do two things for the rest of my life they would be to read and to write!

Do you prefer to write paranormal or contemporary romance?

I usually switch back and forth between genres when I get bored. I haven’t written much paranormal lately though. I’ve been alternating between BDSM and military.

What inspires you when you write?

I have no idea! Ideas just come to me and I start typing!

Did you do a lot of research when you wrote your first BDSM novel?

I did NO research. I wrote my first BDSM, Bound to be Taken, purely from my own thoughts. I was feeding the chapters to my editor and when I suggested that maybe I should stop and do some research, she said, “NO! Keep writing. It’s pure and so very ‘you.’” So, I didn’t read much about BDSM until later.

Which advice will you give to a new author?

I have quick pointers for people just starting out to help them avoid tons of rewrites. Things like don’t head hop. Try third person past first. Avoid dialog tags. Make sure you don’t break the fourth wall. Don’t give the reader omniscient information. Etc…

Which one of your books will you recommend to a new reader?

I always ask them what genres they prefer first and go from there. BDSM: Training Sasha. Paranormal: Kara’s Wolves. MMA: Come. Daddy Dom: Raising Lucy. Military: Destiny’s Delta. Etc…
