Back Cover

Vanessa Isaac is an avid reader, introvert book worm, sick and tired of finding love in all the wrong places. She buries herself in her job as a freelance blogger, experiencing different worlds outside of her own. That is until she discovers that her sister, Chassidy, secretly set her up on a blind date from a dating website called Single Status to make sure Vanessa is not alone for another Valentines’ Day.

The written words is the way to her heart. Vanessa does not want another flunked date full of lies, stalkers and deadbeat fathers. She challenges her new admirer by communicating only by way of pen pals as she looks for a man who can live up to her book boyfriend expectations above reality and slip into her mind.

Logan Harrison does just that, and so more! He breaks Vanessa’s submissive walls down, brick by brick, taking her to a whole new world that she has never been to before, while he mends his own broken heart. It becomes one hell of a blind date that neither of them expected

My review

It was special to read that story because it’s the first time I read one where the protagonist is a bookblogger just like me. I doubt that it’s something you can really make money of, but it was nice to be able to dream the time I was reading this novella.

I have to admit that I thought Logan and Vanessa felt in love way too fast, but since it’s a novella, a lot can happens in few pages. I did not have the time to get bored. Not only because of her job, but also with the way she sees her love life, I could relate to her. Unfortunately, I think I did not know Logan enough to get an idea about him except that he likes to write letters instead of sending online messages and he takes charge when he has too. It was okay for the story, but I wish I could get to know him more.

Honestly, I liked the relationship between Vanessa and her sister better. Even though, I felt like the author was a little bit everywhere and the intimate scene did not add something to the story. I wish Vanessa was more focused. It’s normal that the reader is in the protagonist head, but it was like Vanessa could not focus.

I can’t deny there was chemistry between Logan and Vanessa, but they weren’t enough pages to develop it. I did not really know what was the male protagonist point of view. Even though, its part of a collection you do not have to read the other books to understand the story.

Excerpts

" Your readers would agree with me. It’s time for you to get out there, experience love again and create your own stories. Your Sisterhood Book Blog will still wait when you get back from your date so you can write all about it! "

The life of a bookworm is adventurous but my sister was right. I need to get back out there and date again. Book signings are where my people are at. We are all so like-minded, not like anyone I know outside of the book world. But I won’t find a boyfriend there as any man who attends is with their wives or a model for hire.

I earn a decent amount of money occasionally writing for magazines, companies, and wide promotion for authors, but this store is definitely beyond my means. The only other time I remember wearing a dress that fancy was my grade twelve graduation.

" I’m not looking for someone to change me. I’m looking for someone to accept me. "

They chatter amongst themselves then they play a recognizable, intimate song called Birthday by JP Cooper. I’m surprised. Not because it isn’t my birthday, but because the chorus talks about other girls have nothing compared to his woman.

Sometimes we aren’t able to connect with people, perhaps because they can’t accept us for who we are, we don’t want the same things, or too busy of a schedule and need to plan.
