Interview with Susan Hayes

Biography

Susan lives on Vancouver Island, off the Canadian west coast where the waters are patrolled by orcas, and the sighting of snowflakes leads to citywide panic. She’s jumped out of perfectly good airplanes on purpose and accidentally swum with sharks on the Great Barrier Reef.

If the world ends, she plans to survive as the spunky, comedic sidekick to the heroes of the new world, because she’s too short and out of shape to make it on her own for long.

Questions

What are your inspirations when you are writing?

I find Inspiration all around me. Snippets of a conversation overheard at a store, a random comment between friends, so many places!

Do you prefer to write standalone or series?

I definitely prefer to write in series. Every time I try to write a standalone other characters shoulder their way into the story and demand they be next.

Which one of your books will you recommend to a new reader?

If you like Sci-Fi with a bit of humour, I’d recommend Joran.  If You like your stories with more spice? (And more than one hero…) I’d suggest Her Alien Mates.

Did you liked to write for another author world and what challenges did you encounter?

I have loved writing in other authors’ worlds. It’s always a bit of a challenge to take someone else’s world and carve out your own spot in it, but I’ve enjoyed it immensely.

What advice will you give to a new author?

Writing is a marathon, not a sprint. You need to keep your head down and keep going for the long haul.

What are your next projects?

Up next is Operation Sunset, the last book in The Drift: Nova Force series.
