Interview with Elle Boon

 Biography

Elle Boon is a reader first and foremost…and of course if you know her, she’s the crazy lady with purple hair. She’s also a USA Today Bestselling Author who lives in Middle-Merica as she likes to say…with her husband and Kally Kay her black lab who also thinks she’s her writing partner (She happens to sit next to her begging for treats and so takes a lot of credit). She has two amazing kids Jazz and Goob and is a MiMi to one adorable little nugget named Romy or RomyGirl (greatest job EVER) who has totally won over everyone who sees her (If anyone says a hair bow is too big, they’re crazy). She’s known for saying “Bless Your Heart” and dropping lots of F-bombs (I mean lots of F-BOMBS but who is keeping track?).

She loves where this new journey has taken her and has no plans on stopping. She writes what she loves to read, and that’s romance, whether it’s about Navy SEALs, HOT as F**K MC heroes, or paranormal alphas. #dontlookdown is a thing you will need to google. “wink” With all her stories you’re guaranteed a happily ever after, no matter what twisted thing her mind has come up with. Her biggest hope is that after readers have read one of her books, they fall in love with her characters as much as she has. She loves creating new worlds, and has more stories just waiting to be written. Elle believes in happily ever after and can guarantee you will always get one within the pages of her books.

Questions

Which of your novels do you recommend to a new reader and why?

Depending on what genre they prefer, I think I have one for everyone. If you are a paranormal lover, I’d suggest either Lyric’s Accidental Mate, which is seriously still one of my favorite stories ever because it was the first book in my Iron Wolves and led me into a world where I created this amazing family of heroes and heroines that I think everyone can relate to, even though they’re not quite human. However, if you are a reader who doesn’t like paranormal (you should still read Lyric’s Accidental Mate ‘cause you will totally fall in love with my Iron Wolves “wink”) then start with my Royal MC or My Navy SEAL series. What you’ll always find in any of my stories are seriously amazing alpha heroes and equally strong heroines who are never too stupid to live.

Why did you decide to write romance instead of another genre?

I love the world of romance because let’s face it...real life can suck sometimes. So, when I sit down and write, I like to fall into a world where even though I put a little bit of real-life into it, I know that there will always be a happily ever after at the end.

Why did you decide to self-publish?

I started out with publishers, and then one of the houses I was with closed, and my world was shook a little. I had several friends who were already self-publishing, and they were pivotal in me dipping my toes into the self-pub world and I have no regrets LOL.

What are your inspirations?

I get inspiration from everywhere and everything, only I take the ordinary and twist and turn it to make it more, whether it’s more exciting, or scary, or just plain more, and make it work within my story. I’m a pantster with a side of plotster LOL. When I sit down to write I always start out on paper, getting the characters fleshed out; what they look like. How old they are. What their characteristics are and getting a feel for their personalities. I then start with the beginning of the story, figuring out the storyline and backstory for each main person. There is usually always a bad guy/girl and some danger that leads my guy to need to protect his woman. Now, my girl is usually always competent, but what is an alpha male if he isn’t needed LOL.

Do you read other genres than romance?

Not really. I read all genres of romance and never the genre I’m writing at the same time. So if I’m writing a paranormal, then I won’t be reading a paranormal at that time.

What advice would you give to a new author?

My best advice to anyone who wants to become an author is to learn the craft and do it. Sit down and write the story, and then make sure you put the best version out there, don’t skip over the most important part of writing, which is ensuring you’ve had someone, or someone’s, read, edit, and review your story so that when you do hit publish, you’re putting out quality over quantity work. Anyone can write, but not everyone can do it well. Although I’ve been doing this for six years, I’m still learning, and I think there is always room for improvement. Stay humble and don’t get too big for your britches, as my mama always said.

What are your next projects?

I’m working on Her Dragon Mate, Belle’s book for an anthology releasing in October, then hopefully Bad Wolf, the first book in my Iron Wolves Next Generation. I have sooo many stories in my head, I just need to sit down and write them LOL.

My review about Royally Twisted

Thank you soo much for taking the time to ask me these amazing questions, and for reading/reviewing Royally Twisted. I truly appreciate you taking the time and effort.

XOXO,

Elle Boon
