Questions
What do
you like the most about writing?
I love the
creativity. Being able to put pen to paper, or fingertips to keyboard, and
create entire worlds with multi-faceted characters is the best feeling in the
world. It gets even better when readers tell me how much they love what I’ve
given them!
Why did
you decided to write about romance?
I picked up
my first romance novel when I was twelve. It was my mother’s. She had boxes of
books that she’d read, and I begged her to allow me to go through them and read
them. Luckily, she said yes! The first romance novel I ever read was Ashes on
the Wind by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss and it just blew me away. I was forever
hooked on romance after that and devoured any romance novel I could get my
hands on. I also loved writing so in high school, I combined the two and
started writing romance stories for my friends. The rest is history.
Which
one of your books will you recommend to a new reader?
Honestly,
it really depends on what they like to read. I have an urban
fantasy/paranormal romance series, but I also have contemporaries. For my
contemporary readers, I always tell them to start with Dirty Professor.
For my PNR readers, Phoenyx in Flames is book one in the Phoenyx
series. I always tell them to start with that one as the books in that series
should be read in order to really get the full scope of the story. My
contemporaries can be read as standalones.
What
struggles did you met when you wrote your first novel?
The first
novel I wrote was Phoenyx in Flames. I want to tell you I struggled, but
I can’t. That one poured out of me! However, writers block has been a struggle
for me in the past. I find reading or listening to music words well to fill
that creative well back up and get me writing again.
What
advices will you give to a new author?
Write the
book. That story you have inside of you? Write it. Share your words with
people. Don’t overthink it. Don’t immediately try to be the best at it. Just
write it. The rest will fall into place. Also, read a lot in your chosen genre.
Keep up with trends and see what your peers are writing about. Then write what you
want.
Do you
write with music? If yes, do you have a special song?
I do! I
make a playlist for every book I write. When I’m in that process, I always have
it going even when I’m not writing. I find the ideas just come to me as I
listen.
What are
your next projects?
I am
actually working on a dark romance trilogy that I hope to release next year.
Lots of triggers. Very different from what I’ve been writing. While it will
still be romance in a sense, the sweetness I tend to lean toward when writing
will be much less. These stories will be intense, dark and very focused on the
monsters that live inside of us. I’m really excited about it!
