Sophie

to retire, Sophie’s coach pitches him the idea of partnering with his longtime
rival. They have been dogging each other on the competition circuit and trading
barbs since they were teenagers. The idea of dancing with the pampered French
princess who makes his blood race is not his favorite, but he doesn’t see any
other way to keep competing.
With their
eyes fixed on winning, they strive to put their animosity aside and make the
partnership work. The constant proximity and close dancing start to bring both
of their sky high walls down, ignite a fire between them, and help them find a
beautiful partnership off of the floor as well as on it. Will they be able to
both win the championship and each other’s hearts?
My
review
It’s the
first novel I read by this author and since we have lots if common, I looked
forward to reading it. I have followed Zumba classes since the last decade, but
it’s nothing like working hard to get the competition level. I even understand
why Sophie says that, at 28 years old, her retirement is close. I just found
the subject interesting and I didn’t read many books about professional dancers.
If I have
to choose a favorite character, I will go with Sophie not only because she
speaks French like me. I love the nickname she has for Leo. I think it fit very
well with him. She’s stubborn, and it makes me laugh a few times. She’s
convincing that she has to dislike Leo and tries to believe that she’s not a
nice person.
About Leo,
I wasn’t sure that I would appreciate him first because of his Russian
background, however, we discover that his family is important to him. I’m
surprised he didn’t lose patience with Sophie, but he decided to give her a
chance, just the way she did with him.
I like the background
story of each character and it was funny to see a guy named Gilles, who is
still young. In my head, he was around 60 years old, but how refused to accept
that he was too old to dance professionally.
