Back Cover

She’s sceptical about blind dates, and he’s convinced she wants to bail.

Arianna was finishing her work day when her office friend, Megan, aka the Matchmaker, presented her with a perfect blind date. Uncertain, Arianna arrives at the coffee shop to meet the mystery man and gives him two minutes to show up, then decides to leave.

Jonathan enters the coffee shop, and a woman bumps into him, spilling coffee over his shirt. A quick apology from her, and she realises she’s his date. Ouch. She feels embarrassed and apologetic. She couldn’t even give him five minutes’ grace.

She buys him a coffee to make up for his coffee-stained shirt, and they hit it off. She’s funny, he’s interesting, and the date is going well until members of the Mish Mash Historical Society take over the coffee shop, and their evening turns into something amazing.

My review

It’s not the first book I read from this author, but it’s the first chicklit I read from her. Since I was on a trip, I wanted to read something light and I did a great choice. I like sometime just like the characters drive me and let things happens. I laughed a few times especially when they went to the historical-improv event. It was my favorite moment of the story.

It’s hard to choose between Adriana and Jonathan as my favorite character, but the first place goes to Adriana because I could connect more with her and she is the one who make me laugh the most. I have the same hesitation than her about apps and blind dates, but hopefully for her it’s might work. You will have to discover if it’s the case.

Jonathan is in second position. I like his sense of humour and he have been patient with Adriane who doesn’t seem to like him at the beginning. I never been a friend of a friend fan, but this guy was perfect for this story.

The only problem with this book, it’s too short. The author was able to say everything she wanted to say in less than 100, but when you are used to read 300 pages and more, you have the feeling that it’s missing something. In the same time, it’s perfect if you are looking to read something short or if you have trouble to concentrate.

Excerpts

Arianna sank deeper into her chair. Dating was the last thing she wanted to do. And she’d rather put in a hundred-hour week than go on a blind date. She’d broken up with Ryan a year ago, and while she was over him, she wasn’t over being single. She enjoyed her freedom, doing things on her schedule, and not having fights. (p.2)

"You need to get out more."

"I get out."

"From the office to your car and from your car to your condo." (p.4)

"You look fine..just add more mascara and more lipstick, and let your hair down. No man wants to meet a woman for the first time with their hair pulled back in a bun." (p.6)

" Anything anyone else makes. I can live off Kraft Dinner, boiled eggs, and bologna sandwiches." (p.11)

"Same as you. I’ve worked hard to get where I’m at. I don’t want to rock the boat. What if my boss comes across my Instagram account? I’d keep things clean, but you never know what comments might get left behind. Some people can be nasty." (p.36)
