Ghouls just wanna have fun...

Jessie needs an army. One made up of the strongest alphas she can find if she is to kill a powerful sorcerer. The former master who created her.

She needs warriors, both wolf and dragon alike for this tricky mission. Easier said than done because dragons and wolves don’t get along! Luckily, Jessie’s a ghoul with succubus powers and she doesn’t have to look far to find a few scrumptious men who are the perfect candidates...

She just didn’t expect to have so much fun making the growly warriors do her bidding, though they don’t seem to mind when play time rolls around.

As things heat up in the bedroom, complications arise. The long history of fighting between dragons and werewolves is more challenging than Jessie expected. To ensure her freedom, and their cooperation, she might have to, horror of horrors, release them from her spell.

Trusting four angry warriors to stay on their own free will is a new experience for Jessie. Because, whether she wins her freedom or not, Jessie is used to a solitary, loveless life, and not convinced she’s worthy of four knights in shining armor

My Review

I still undecided about this book and I felt that I should write an honest review even though she is a colleague from Ottawa Romance Writers. The background of the story is interesting and have lot of potential. I was expecting a story with a lot of sexes scene and it’s not the case. You have to wait 100 pages to read the first and I will let you discover how many this novel has. I think it’s a good thing that the story does not revolve only around sex.

In general, I love Mandy’s writing. She has a good sense of humour and her characters are likable. I wish I could say it was the case for Jessie, but I think she is selfish and I felt bad for her four knights in armor. At the beginning, I was hoping they will open their eyes and be honest with her. She is not a damsel in distress and she should solve her own problem instead of complicating the situation with her husband. She did not have an easy life, but I thought that was not a good reason to keep them under a spell. The good thing is they all consent to it.

I also noted a lack of action in this book. Wolves and Dragons were more fighting for Jessie attention and guessing if they should go back to their own lives instead of working together for a great cause. I never close a book before I reach the end unless it’s really bad and it’s not the case. I was just hoping that the story will reach the point that I could not put it down. I had to wait until the end to read about the amazing fighting scene and crossing my fingers that everyone will stay alive. I just wish I could care more about the shifters; I did not want any of them to die, but I think the story would be better with two instead of four. While I was reading, it was hard to know who was a dragon and how was a wolf. The only one I really liked was Draco because he seems to care and love Jessie for who she was. I also liked the Harry Potter and Lord of the ring references, both moves are important in my life and it’s makes me smile to see the mentions in other books.

Excerpts

" Well, I am bad, but I’m not evil, let’s say."

" That’s debatable " James replied (p. 29)

" Like Lord Voldemort? " James asked.

" Yes, and you should read another book if that’s the only example you can come up with. " (p.38)

Irritated, Jessie stood tall. " If any of you believe I will be hanging myself, you’re out of your mind. " She slammed the dresser shut, crossing her arms, pacing about the room, thinking of her next move.
